Jump start needed—ASAP

They appear every season, like gods—the stars we know and love, whose lives we follow in the magazines and gossip shows. When we see them onscreen we remember why we even care.

I'm feeling needy now.

I just dyed my hair.

I'm into hoop earrings.

I'm into glitter.

I'm into good books. I'm reading Oprah's latest selection—three by William Faulkner.

I don't understand these books.

But I feel it's a START.

I have to get serious about myself again.

Get serious about LIFE.

How Moss got her groove back.

That's going to be the name of my memoir.

I need to read more poetry.

I need to be a nicer person.

I need a job. I need to ACT.

Dawning feeling: I've burned all my bridges.

I used to have so many bridges.

Now just: ashes.

Why.

So OK.

AS I LAY DYING. It's told by different members of this family plus all these other people. I have no idea what they're talking about. Argg.

Then this other one, THE SOUND AND THE FURY. Ummmm....RIGHT. I have no idea what's going on.

LIGHT IN AUGUST has a great title but...ummmmm....

Et tu, Oprah?
